Selecting Survey Data from the Edit Menu brings up the Edit Window. This is where survey data is usually entered into CavePlot, but is also used for editing and viewing survey information. I spent a lot of time working on this part of CavePlot, trying to make it as easy, fast, and convenient as possible.
For your convenience, CavePlot currently includes 2 different survey editors. The first, the 1-Shot Editor, displays 1 shot (or survey vector) at a time. The second, the List Editor, displays several shots surrounding (some before and some after) the shot being edited. Because there is more room, the 1-shot editor gives (and accepts) more kinds of information for each shot. For added convenience, you may switch between the two editors at any time with the click of a button.
The options listed below apply specifically to the 1-Shot Editor. Most of these options are also available from the List Editor, but several are not. I will try to note those options which are not available from the List Editor.
Moving Around
Information can be entered or changed in any edit field by clicking the mouse in the edit field you want to use. For faster data entry, pressing RETURN will automatically move the cursor to the next edit field. Pressing TAB moves the cursor to the previous edit field.
Prompt Buttons
For faster data entry, 3 Prompt check boxes are provided. These are located next to the "From", "Station", and "LRCF" edit fields. When selected, the first 2 check-boxes tell CavePlot to try to anticipate station names and enter them for you. If the LRCF check box is selected, it tells CavePlot to wait for LRCF information before going to the next shot.
